Jennifer Benson, current Fargo School Board Member, announces her campaign for Fargo City Commission.


FARGO, N.D. – Fargo School Board member Jennifer Benson announced her intention to run for Fargo City Commission. Benson is a Fargo native with a proven track record of working hard to advocate for constituents. She has served as a member of the Fargo Board of Education since 2014. She also currently serves as a member of the Community Development Committee for the City of Fargo.
“It is my pleasure to endorse Jennifer Benson for City Commission. During her eight years on the Fargo School Board, she was always willing to ask hard questions and demand answers,” said Tony Gehrig, Fargo City Commissioner. “Jennifer has integrity and is committed to results, and accountability, I have no doubt she will stand strong to do what’s best for the City of Fargo” said Gehrig.
Benson spent more than 20 years working in the mental health field at Jansen Pharmaceuticals Inc., where her focus was mental health awareness, education and continuity of care services. Raised by a family of educators, Benson believes strong communities are anchored in a spirit of collaboration. Her board knowledge, business acumen and mental health background, gives Benson a unique set of experiences and skills to connect various segments of the community to discover shared objectives. By working together, she is confident we can find innovative and attainable solutions that will benefit the City.

Benson lives in South Fargo with her husband, Mitch. They have three daughters and two dogs. Their oldest daughter serves in the military.
